The OnePlus 5G Smartphone will be a preview of the technology that the OnePlus is scheduled to launch. OnePlus has already started sending out invites which enumerate “5G gaming” as a possible example of what the Chinese manufacturer is planning to show off.
This also indicates the fact that the final mass production 5G smartphone which has been scheduled for launch later this year could be aimed at the gaming community.
OnePlus recently took the top spot as India’s best selling smartphone brand, according to an IDC report. They had initially announced that they will be developing a 5G smartphone at Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit in December 2018.
OnePlus also intends to be the first companies to launch a 5G-ready smartphone which will go into mass-production in the global market. The flagship will be powered by the blistering Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC and Snapdragon X50 5G modem.
The OnePlus announcement about their 5G demonstration at the MWC was posted by XDA developers and it reads, “OnePlus, at Qualcomm’s booth (Hall 3 Stand 3E10), invites all to connect and communicate with our community over a 5G network. Attendees will also be able to experience the capabilities of 5G gaming on a OnePlus 5G prototype.”
OnePlus had also stated that they will be launching their OnePlus 5G Smartphone during the first half of 2019. However, there has been no word if the 5G-ready flagship and the OnePlus 7 are going to be the same single models, or if OnePlus is actually planning to bring in two separate models.
The OnePlus 7 is also slated to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. One more possibility here is that OnePlus could bring the 5G ready model as a higher-spec variant of the standard OnePlus 7, or it could be a different model altogether.
OnePlus is not the only manufacturer to get into the 5G space. Other manufacturers like Huawei, Samsung, Vivo, LG, and ZTE are among the major brands who are most likely to join the bandwagon. Source: timesnownews.com
